Expect stories that explore identity, movement, memory, and belonging — alongside music that connects across borders. Whether you’re a third culture individual, part of the diaspora, or simply curious to hear new voices, this event offers a space to connect through the beauty of lived experience and shared expression.
🎤 Featured Lineup
Sarah
Born in Baghdad and raised in the Netherlands, Sarah’s musical selections reflect the meeting of cultures that shape her life. With her acoustic guitar and soothing voice, she performs songs that trace themes of home, identity, and belonging.
Rod
Rod is a storyteller and improviser who has worked with the Mezrab in Amsterdam for the past 15 years. He hosts My True Story, a night where audiences and performers share real-life stories inspired by a shared theme.
Yoyo
A storyteller, painter, and poet, Yoyo has spent a lifetime stepping outside the norm by choice or chance. Their stories celebrate difference and the hidden ways we are human. They join us at a moment of transition, preparing to return to the UK after 10 years in Amsterdam.
Marijn
A former psychiatric nurse working with political refugees, Marijn has traveled widely to places of transformation and tension. His work in improvisational theater and LGBTQ+ storytelling explores what it means to live beyond the boxes society builds.
Anusha
A software engineer from Pakistan, Anusha discovered storytelling while navigating identity, migration, and belonging. Her stories invite listeners to reflect on the search for home and offer new perspectives on the immigrant experience.
HEIMAT
Shervin is the creative mind behind Heimat, a dynamic live act blending analog synths, live instruments, and global rhythms. With roots in classical music and performances across the world, his sets offer an immersive, borderless musical experience. He'll close the night with a live set from 22:00–24:00, open to all attendees.
