Join us for the next installment of Third Culture Tales: Stories Beyond Borders, an evening of live storytelling, poetry, comedy, and reflection exploring the beauty and complexity of lives lived between cultures. Presented in collaboration with Diaspora Arts Connection, this special event takes place at the vibrant Impossible Stage in Berkeley.
Through intimate, funny, and moving performances, we gather as a community to celebrate the voices of those who carry multiple homes within them—immigrants, children of diaspora, third culture individuals, and all those who exist in the space between.
This event will feature a powerful lineup of storytellers, each bringing their own lens to questions of identity, memory, and belonging.
The Lineup
Persis
Poet, professor, and former director of the Center for Iranian Diaspora Studies. Her work illuminates the Iranian-American experience, and her recent documentary film The Dawn is Too Far explores life across the Iranian diaspora through personal narratives.
Michael
Founder of Culture Crossing Inc. and author of the bestselling books Culture Crossing and Present Company. A sought-after speaker and facilitator, Michael draws from a global perspective to explore the intersections of culture, communication, and connection.
Michaela
A community builder and organizer who created Interwoven, a gathering space for racially and culturally mixed people. Michaela’s work is grounded in her own experiences of navigating mixed identity, and in fostering intentional, healing connection.
Inanç
A Turkish-American comedian and multidisciplinary artist whose work explores immigration, language, and cultural friction. His storytelling is heartfelt and humorous, with his debut special Aggravated Ethnic Merman blending visual art and stand-up.
American Immigrants
A dynamic, interactive storytelling and music show by Vivek Venugopal and Anthony Veneziale. American Immigrants blends real stories from the audience with freestyle music and comedy to honor immigrant journeys, whether from 200 years ago or last week.
